Presidential Medal of Dishonor

On November 22, 2016, Obama awarded the esteemed Medal of Freedom to celebrities like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Hanks, Robert Redford, Robert DiNero, Michael Jordan and Ellen DeGeneres to name a few. Does this fit with the purpose the Medal’s creation when President John F. Kennedy started it in 1963?

Don’t look for Andrew Breitbart or Tom Clancy’s name on any of Obama’s list of recipients for this award…

Up until Obama, this Medal, which is the highest civilian medal to be awarded, was given to dignitaries, generals like Colin Powell and Supreme Court Justices like Thurgood Marshall. It was not given to celebrities who pitched for a particular president’s campaign or the DNC. Is it now a Medal of Honor or a constellation prize for pimping Democrats’ campaigns?

As many readers know, the last group of recipients were outspoken opponents of then-candidate Donald Trump, so it begs the question of the legitimacy of this award given to these celebrities who engaged in Twitter and YouTube wars with our current President.

How could anyone forget DiNero’s tirate on YouTube about President Trump where he claimed he wanted to “punch him in the face?” Is this honorable conduct? Not by the standard most Americans live by! If anything, that was his Hanoi Jane Moment — and with this last election cycle, there were many of those moments!

The Presidential Medal of Freedom History

Started in 1963 by JFK, it was preceded by Truman’s awards given to the Second World War Civilian heroes who assisted in the war efforts but not in combat. Presidential Medal of Freedom, it was created for honoring non-military efforts that forward American values.

It recognizes those people who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors”.[2] The award is not limited to U.S. citizens and, while it is a civilian award, it can also be awarded to military personnel and worn on the uniform. — Wikipedia

Did Bruce Springsteen and Tom Hanks actually live within the scope written above or was it a way for Obama to further his F-U to America on his way out the door? It would seem they didn’t do much for their award except do free concerts and try to sell a corrupt criminal aka Hillary Clinton, on the American public. A sales job they failed miserably because you can’t dress up a criminal to be a leader of our country. Hardly.

Basically, they got this award for promoting failed policy and attempting to moral shame voters. Nothing more.

One could make the argument that Tom Hanks would be an exception because of the historical documentary series he produced through his Playtone company; however, his gushy exit video for Obama usurps his efforts to be a documentarian/historian of current US History, due to the apparent political bias he holds. Real historians who aren’t getting grants to do projects from specific administrations, generally remove their political lenses in order to report real history instead of propaganda designed to reframe history – mostly to make the Democrats not look as bad as they really were – to the public.

Therefore, those medals handed out like candy are basically meaningless. They have no merit, no substance and no prestige. The celebrities who accepted them obviously live under some false sense that they actually did something worthy of garnering such an award when in fact, they were merely poodle pawns designed to dazzle Americans.

Frankly, the glitter didn’t even make it to base camp one as most voters saw these celebrities as self-indulgent, spoiled, entitled and not worthy of listening to before casting their votes. The poodle brigade was only there to serve as the court jester of Medieval times. The entertaining fool who was there at the whim of the ruler – but certainly no one to be taken serious!

Once again, Obama has marred yet another presidential honor bestowed on real heroes while leaving so many Americans like Andrew Breitbart, unacknowledged. Does this surprise anyone?
